Why I Prefer the Name “Talent Development” over “Education”

Sometimes I don’t even like to use the word “education” because there are so many disagreements about WTF education even is and what the overall goal is.
“Talent development” is clearer and aligns well with my own POV.
In talent development, the goal is clear: an individual’s performance is to be maximized, and this is achieved by using methods that most efficiently convert effort into performance improvements.
Why such a focus on talent development?
Because developing hardcore skills is probably the biggest bottleneck to improving one’s life and society in general.
So many people want to have high impact and improve the world (and their own lives) in a big way, but desire is not enough, you typically can’t do anything big unless you have big skills.
