Weak Math Ruins Your Day

When a student struggles during a physics problem, half the time it’s not even the physics that is the source of the struggle.
You know, half the time it’s the algebra or the math, the calculus, whatever, inside of the problem.
Like they understand that the cart is speeding up. They can describe it in words. They can even draw a little motion diagram.
That’s not the problem. The problem is moving mathematical symbols around.
That’s the thing that comes back to haunt them over and over, ‘cause it’s no longer just, you know, imagine a scenario, what happens.
It’s been abstracted into these mathematical symbols. They’re less concrete.
And it’s like, well, what do you do? You gotta know your algebra. You gotta know your math. Gotta know your calculus.
Whatever level of math that you’re building upon, you gotta know it!
‘Cause weak math does not just stay in math class. It also walks into physics class, it walks into chemistry class, into economics class, and just ruins your day.
Follows you around to every class, ruining your day, haunting you, sabotaging your every move into eternity.
