The reliable path to success in all forms –

Not just accumulating wealth

But also finding meaning,
intellectually stimulating activities,
and people you enjoy working with,

and being able to provide good guidance to young people you care about:

The reliable path to all those things is seriously skilling up and applying those skills to solve real problems.

But you have to really hit all the criteria embedded in that sentence.

You have to seriously skill up. Not just get a degree, not just impress your parents.

You have to apply those skills. You need to be building and using some kind of edge.

You have to be solving problems. Not just trying without getting any traction. Not just spinning out on problems that are way too hard.

The problems have to be real. Not just made-up problems that only exist in your own imagination. Don’t get me wrong, those can sometimes be good early training grounds for sharpening skills. But they’re not endgame.
