The Day of Reckoning in Math Learning

Many students race through tasks, read carelessly, and try to do all the work in their head.
Predictably, these students soon find themselves struggling.
The point of struggle may occur early on, in arithmetic or algebra. Or it might occur later, in calculus or higher-level math.
But the day of reckoning always comes, eventually.
The only escape is to slow down, read carefully, and solve problems on paper, keeping work neat and organized.
Sadly, the longer students rush, the harder it becomes to break the habit and overcome their struggles.
Even if things are going smoothly, it’s wise to practice good habits: slow down, read carefully, and put pencil to paper.
