Never underestimate the value of a wise older person in your life who can suggest worthwhile pursuits.

Even when you are an incredible workhorse, it is so easy to spin out galloping through the mud trying really hard on things that, if you’ve been down that path before, you know that for some reason or another it’s just not gonna work. It’s not the way.

Having someone who knows you well and can point you towards pursuits with a high likelihood of high reward if you put in enough effort, given what they know about you and what they know about the world, is priceless.

Especially pursuits that sound extremely difficult, but where you have some kind of edge that would make your success kind of obvious in hindsight, provided you also do the work to level up some other areas of your game.
