Once you get away from โ€œI can empirically test this right now, right in front of me, like I can test that 2x3=6,โ€ itโ€™s tough to keep arguments productive.

They often spiral into disagreement about assumptions: who interprets what to mean what, who has what preconceptions.

Funny enough, one of the reasons I went into math was to avoid these sorts of argumentsโ€ฆ little did I know that math education is a philosophical and political warzone ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Seems like it doesnโ€™t matter what you start with โ€“ once you append โ€œeducationโ€ or โ€œpolicyโ€ or any kind of descriptor that implies managing the experiences of other people, you get a warzone.

Math? ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ„

Math education? ๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Math education policy? ๐Ÿ’€
