Writing down your thoughts/intuitions is a great thing to do when learning math.
It really helps you organize, refactor, and compress the ideas in your head.
The best math students are running this kind of self-explanation routine all the time – it may be written down, or it may be all in their head, but it’s always happening.
But be aware that yes, you still have to solve problems! Problems are what put your intuition to the test.
Solving problems is like accumulating life experiences and this is like reflecting on those life experiences. You can’t reflect on life experiences that don’t exist.
