Hardcore skill development is one of the greatest social mobility hacks.
So what if your family is not well-connected, if nobody is opening doors for you, if you do not have a prestigious network you can fall back on and let it carry you forward?
You can pave your own way by building real skills.
But they have to be real. Not fake resume skills. Not βI watched a few videosβ skills. Actual measurable ability that solves problems people care about.
Yes, you may have to become more skilled than someone who started with better connections. That is unfair, but it is also clarifying. Skills are one of the few levers that can overpower weak positioning. You get good enough, and people who would have ignored you start needing you.
This is why serious upskilling matters. Not because grinding is aesthetically virtuous, but because skills create agency.
If you want more freedom, build more skill. If you want more options, build more skill. If you want the world to take you seriously, become too useful to dismiss.
