Question

When’s X happening? What about Y? What’s the status on Z? You said you were working on A and then B came out and A isn’t done yet! Why don’t you bump up the priority of the thing I want most? What else could possibly be more important? Why don’t you respond to comments anymore? Why don’t you post updates anymore? Is anything happening?

Answer

There’s a lot happening, but we’ve had to reduce the amount of information we share about what’s happening behind the scenes.

Everything that we’ve previously shared about our long-term vision remains and will be accomplished, though the priority order is constantly adapting to new information, and we’ve learned that responding to requests for status updates, expected timelines, etc. tends to create firmer expectations than are warranted (they’re ultimately just our best estimates based on the information available at the time).

Personally I’ve been working 100-hour weeks since spring and I’m incredibly excited about the work we’re doing. Believe me, I wish I could pull back the curtain! Being so open about what we’re working on was one of the most fun parts of the early days. But there’s also a certain peace in shutting out the noise, focusing on our game, and letting results speak for themselves. And I can’t wait until we’re able to share them.
