Some people just have a higher tolerance for it. But if a tennis coach just talks at you for an hour, you're not getting better at tennis.

Being talked at for an hour is not effective learning. Some people just have a higher tolerance for it.

If you go to tennis lessons and the coach just talks at you for an hour, I don’t care what your attention span is – you’re not getting better at tennis.

It’s the same in math or any other academic subject.
